Unexpected journey of gravity in particles and fields

In this short talk, I would like to review the develop of string theory, and its unexpected detour from a quantum theory of gravity to a gravitational theory of fields, from high energy collider physics to condensed matter at low temperature. Gravity, as the weakest force among four, keeps surprising us in various disciplines.
