A good quality double perovskite single crystal of Ba2MnTeO6 has been grown successfully for the first time by conventional flux growth method. The powder x-ray diffraction analysis indicates that the grown crystal is crystallized with trigonal (R-3m) system and its lattice parameter values are a = 5.4917(3) Å, b = 5.6678(3) Å, c = 7.8371(5) Å, β =90.251(4)º. The phase purity of the single crystal of Ba2MnTeO6 has been confirmed through the high resolution Transmission electron microscope (TEM) analysis. The temperature dependence of magnetic susceptibilities (χ (T)) indicate that two antiferromagnetic order at ~17K and ~10K. At higher temperature paramagnetic state, the 1/χ (T) obeys the Curie-Weiss law with fitted Curie constant C = 5.7 cm3 K mol-1, Curie-Weiss temperature Θ = -166 K, and effective moment of eff = 6.7 B per Mn2+ calculated from the Curie constant. The negative Θ indicates antiferromagnetic interactions among spins. The temperature dependence of specific heat capacity (Cp(T)) of Ba2MnTeO6 confirms the presence of antiferromagnetic ordering around ~15 K and ~6 K.
